Whittier School Early Bozeman History Project

Bozeman’s Whittier School 3rd Grade Classes have partnered with the Gallatin History Museum for many years for an annual research project to learn about the individuals that were a part of the early beginnings of Bozeman. Each year teachers would bring their classes for an introduction to our research library and staff so that they could come in with their families after school and on weekends to research their assigned historical person.

The Gallatin History Museum through a generous members donation is making these files accessible here to provide easier access to these students and have the resources available for other area school children, homeschoolers and others interested in learning about the interesting and sometimes colorful individuals that made Bozeman home.

If a Bozeman history character’s spouse is also represented in the list below, it is worth checking both pages as there might be additional information on the husband or wife’s page. Photographs accompany the information unless we don’t have an image for a particular person. We are working to upload more information to this page, so keep checking back! If you have any questions, please email research@gallatinhistorymuseum.org, or call (406)522-8122.
